Au centre, l'allégorie de l'un des quatre fleuves de Palerme entouré de personnages nus
Au centre de la Piazza Pretoria se trouve la Fontana Pretoria, réalisée par Francesco Camilliani et Michelangelo Naccherino, au XVIe siècle, en 1554.
En raison de la nudité de ses statues de marbre représentant des divinités marines et animales (les 4 fleuves de Palerme), les habitants l’ont surnommée la « Fontana delle Vergogne » (Fontaine de la honte). De nombreux sexes et nez ont été amputés par des opposants à cette nudité.
Le Palazzo delle Aquile (palais des aigles), siège de la municipalité est le bâtiment le plus important de la place Pretoria.
