Русский: На данном рисунке изображена крепость Чаул, являющаяся одним из португальских оборонных комплексов, расположенных вдоль западного побережья Индии. Португальцы впервые основались в Чауле в 1521 году и построили форт, который несколько раз перестраивался. Крепостные строения, изображенные на данном рисунке, вероятнее всего,  построены в 1613 году, когда были расширены оборонительные сооружения.

Français : Ce dessin montre la forteresse de Chaul, l'un des complexes de défense portugais qui jalonnent la côte ouest de l'Inde. Les Portugais se sont installés à Chaul en 1521 et y ont implanté un fort, qui à été remodelé à plusieurs reprises. La structure représentée dans ce dessin est vraisemblablement celle construite en 1613, qui présentait des extensions des ouvrages de défense.

The Portuguese first settled at Chaul in 1521 and constructed a fort, which was rebuilt several times.
