Summary
DescriptionFace-to-face hihi mating.jpg
English: Hihi (Notiomystis cincta, stitchbird) are the only bird known to mate face-to-face. This is believed to be more common when the male is not the female's regular mating as standard (male on top) mating also occurs. Not often photographed as hihi are rare, but captured here at Zealandia Ecosanctuary, Wellington where there is a translocated population.
