English: Click on "More Details" to have correct reference links displayed: Three dimensional computer model of a Discrete Fault and Fracture Network (DFFN)[1]. The Discrete Fault and Fracture Network is generated for a piece of rock part of the Madonna della Mazza Quarry in the Majella Mountain area in central Italy. The model is based on the discretization of the actual fractures observed in the rock (it is a so-called deterministic "Data Driven Model"[2], not probabilistic). It was created as part of the activities of the TaskForceMajella Project. The work was performed by Dott. Raffaele Di Bella of the Rome 1 "La Sapienza" University, in 2005. Size of the model: circa 1 cubic meter. The sedimentary bedding is indicated in brown; Three different colours are used for the fracture types; blu-closed fractures; purple-remobilized fractures; red-open fractures.
The figure was published in van Dijk (2011) (Afb. 9, p. 38)[3]
