Beneath a protestant preacher followed by farmers is discussing with a catholic monk followed by urban citizens. The paintings is following the example of an anti-catholic engraving by Sebald Beham ( 1525 ).
Deutsch: Brøns Pfarrkirche. Protestantisches, anti-katholisches Gemälde: Der Papst und seine Kardinäle stehen um ein leeres Dokument ( bulla ), das die "leeren" Worte des Papstes symbolisiert. Darunter diskutiert ein protestantischer Prediger, gefolgt von Bauern, mit einem katholischen Mönch gefolgt von Stadtbürgern. Als Vorlage des Gemäldes diente vermutlich ein anti-katholischer Stich von Sebald Beham ( 1525 ). |
