Legenda: Felice contingente e improvisa Batalha dos Montes Claros, que na primeira marcha do exército de Portugal que saiu em socorro da praça de Vila Viçosa, governado pelo marquês de Marialva, foi acometido pelo de Castela, à ordem do marquês de Carracena, que com ardente e rigoroso impulso, pode romper o corno esquerdo até à retaguarda, donde foi repartido tão rigorosamente, que acabou em fugida, o que começou em vitória e foi posto com perda total do exército castelhano, de eterna glória dos portugueses, com perda de 3000 cavalos e seis mil infantes, entre mortos e prisioneiros, e presa de toda a sua artilharia, último e memorável combate entre as duas Coroas.
