English: Toshino Makino examines the Peace Monument on Attu Island July 11, 2007. Makino was sent to Attu as part of a Japanese delegation to identify the location of the remains of Japanese soldiers and ensure the titanium monument has not been damaged by the extreme weather of Attu Island.
