Ledra Street - the main shopping street in the Greek sector. During the EOKA struggle ( 1955 - 59) against British rule, Ledra street became known as " Murder Mile " in reference to the frequent targeting of British military and civilian personnel who, whilst shopping, were shot dead by EOKA .
