The initiator of this article is the German archaeometric society, the Gesellschaft Naturwissenschaftliche Archäologie ARCHAEOMETRIE e.V. (GNAA). The society has recently decided to contribute to a better visibility of female scientists who have contributed substantially to the advancement of the discipline through their creative efforts. Based on the subject of research represented by the Society, we focus globally on women in archaeometry, a thriving interdisciplinary field between the natural sciences and archaeology.

I am currently President of the GNAA society and already had a user account for Wikipedia. For a while now, I contribute/d to the improvement of existing articles, so that it became quickly my task to convert content into source text. The content was compiled and coordinated jointly by the Society's board of directors. It does not represent my individual opinion.

Wikipedia entries require the citation of secondary sources. I would like to point out to a structural problem here. Apart from the very recent welcome development of promoting women in the natural sciences, there were hardly any measures to promote women in the generations before. As a result, their visibility remains hidden to this day. One should apply different standards here than in the case of males. There have long been no authoritative promotions for women in the sciences, few professorships for women, and no public attention or awards for women's achievements in the sciences. Many women remained in the shadow of their male colleagues, who reaped the rewards of success. This fact also applies to many women scientists. As a result, it is nearly impossible to find sufficient secondary sources for women's biographies. This structural problem should be seen and consciously dealt with by Wikipedia in the context of biographies of women scientists.

I hope this explains sufficiently why the article is the more important to be published in Wikipedia. The importance of the person itself is explained in the article. With our contribution we would like to contribute to a better balance between female and male biographies in Wikipedia.
