Korea-Indonesia MTCRC (Marine Technology Cooperation Research Center) is an intergovernmental joint research center in the field of marine science and technology between Korea represented by the Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology (KIOST) on behalf of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (KSP) and Indonesia represented by the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) on behalf of the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment (CMMAI).

History

The establishment of Korea-Indonesia MTCRC is based on the Implementation Arrangement (IA) between the Coordinating Ministry of Marves (CMMAI) and KSP which signed on May 9, 2018..[1] However, officially, Korea-Indonesia MTCRC was established on September 14, 2018 at ITB Watubelah Campus, Cirebon.[2] The main purpose of establishing Korea-Indonesia MTCRC is to strengthen and promote practical cooperation in the field of marine science and technology between the two countries.

Over the past few years, Korea-Indonesia MTCRC has been cooperating with government agencies and several universities in Indonesia and Korea, such as Pusan National University (PNU); IPB University; Hasanuddin University (UNHAS); and Pattimura University (UNPATTI). As a research and cooperation center, Korea-Indonesia MTCRC successfully held several activities related to marine science and technology, such as general lectures,[3] seminars and workshops,[4] and training[5]. With qualified human resources and research equipment, Korea-Indonesia MTCRC has conducted several marine surveys[6] and researches in Indonesia. Korea-Indonesia MTCRC also provides scholarships for master's and doctoral degrees at universities in Indonesia and Korea[7]
