King Kong (working title) is an upcoming American monster streaming television series. A remake of the 1933 film of the same name, it is intended to be the fourth television series in the King Kong franchise. The series will explore the origin story of King Kong on Skull Island, and will be released on Disney+.

Production

In August 2022, it was announced that a television series featuring the character King Kong was in development at Disney Branded Television, scheduled to premiere on the Disney+ streaming service. Described as an action-adventure serial drama, the series would explore the supernatural origin story of King Kong on Skull Island. Stephany Folsom was revealed to be the series' writer, who serves as executive producer alongside James Wan, Michael Clear, and Rob Hackett of Atomic Monster Productions as well as Daniel Festa and Marc Manus of World Builder Entertainment. The series was said to be based on both the original 1933 film directed by Merian C. Cooper as well as Joe DeVito's recent King Kong novelizations.[1]
