Kaamil Didi Primary School is the first school in Hulhumalé Phase 2.[1] It was inaugurated by former Vice President, Faisal Naseem on 4 September 2022.[1][2] It's located near the Hiyaa Flats in Phase 2.[3][4] The principal of the school is Fathimath Leena, an expert in the education field.[5]
History
Kaamil Didi Primary School is named after Ahmed Kaamil Didi, the first Minister of Education of Maldives.[3][4] The construction of the school was contracted to SJ Construction Private Limited by the HDC in March 2022, but the work was delayed due to the difficulty of importing goods due to the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian War.[6] Therefore, the Education Ministry had arrangements made for students to temporarily study at other schools in Hulhumalé such as Huravee, Ghaazee and Rehendhi Schools in Phase 1 while the school was being constructed.[6] It was officially opened on 4 September 2022 with the presence of 824 students and 65 staff members.[4][7] The school was designed so that students with disabilities can access it very easily.[6]
