The Central District of Shushtar County (Persian: بخش مرکزی شهرستان شوشتر) is in Khuzestan province, Iran. Its capital is the city of Shushtar.^[3]

At the National Census in 2006, its population was 161,714 in 33,999 households.^[4] The following census in 2011 counted 169,224 people in 40,566 households.^[5] At the latest census in 2016, the district had 139,040 inhabitants in 37,243 households,^[2] by which time Miyan Ab Rural District and Miyan Ab-e Shomali Rural District had been separated from the district in the establishment of Miyan Ab District.^[6]
