Carp River (Michigan)

Carp River is the name of several rivers in the U.S. state of Michigan.

  • Carp River (Gogebic-Ontonagon counties), in the Porcupine Mountains empties into Lake Superior at 46°46′05″N 89°53′09″W / 46.76806°N 89.88583°W / 46.76806; -89.88583 (Carp River (Gogebic-Ontonagon counties))[1]
  • Carp River (Luce County), empties into Lake Superior at 46°44′55″N 85°16′13″W / 46.74861°N 85.27028°W / 46.74861; -85.27028 (Carp River (Luce County)) near the Crisp Point Light.[2]
  • Carp River (Mackinac County), a federally designated Wild and Scenic River in the Upper Peninsula flowing into St. Martin Bay on Lake Huron[3]
  • Carp River (Marquette County), empties into Lake Superior in Marquette at 46°31′07″N 87°23′02″W / 46.51861°N 87.38389°W / 46.51861; -87.38389 (Carp River (Marquette County))[4]
  • Leland River, in Leelanau County, was formerly known as Carp River.[5]
  • Threemile Creek, in Luce County, was formerly known as Carp River.[6]
  • Waiska River, in Chippewa County, was formerly known as Carp River.[7]
  • The Marquette, Michigan post office was established on January 12, 1847 as Carp River. The name changed to Marquette on April 17, 1856.[8]
