Briar Chapel is a planned community and census-designated place (CDP) in Chatham County, North Carolina, United States.[2] It was first listed as a CDP in the 2020 census with a population of 5,108.[3]

The community is in northern Chatham County, 1 mile (1.6 km) west of U.S. Routes 15 and 501. It is 8 miles (13 km) south of Chapel Hill and 9 miles (14 km) north of Pittsboro, the Chatham county seat.
