Angura Muhammadpur (Bengali: আঙ্গুরা মোহাম্মদপুর) is a village in Beanibazar Upazila of Sylhet District, Bangladesh. The village is in the 3rd Ward of Kurarbazar Union council. This village is also known by its nickname, Maodpur. There is a large madrasa called Jamia Madania Angura Muhammadpur Madrasa, funded by local villagers and people living abroad. The village is divided by the Kushiyara River. Many villagers have emigrated to Europe, the United States and the Middle East. The population of the village is 2,134.[1] Although this village has faced major setbacks in the past due to the failure of the inhabitants to maintain the rivers and canals, there has been a resurgence in agriculture thanks to the implementation of affordable new farming technologies. Currently, 80% of the agricultural land is being used for growing rice and other crops. In particular, on the northern bank of the river, the locals are actively trying to utilize the farming areas. Angura Mohammed Pur and its neighbouring areas have been struggling with a serious unemployment problem for a long time, particularly among young adults who often drop out of school and remain jobless. This is largely due to cultural norms and attitudes that prioritize migration as the preferred path to success, rather than education, job or entrepreneurship. There are even linguistic biases that promote and value being a migrant worker over pursuing education.

As a result, the community suffers from a lack of skilled labour and economic opportunities. And those who migrate often have to rely on manual labour as their only means of income due to the lack of skills they acquired from their time in the country and limited education. The village heavily relies on remittances from its migrant population to sustain its economy. The village has limited natural resources. The village market is called Farir Bazar. The village does have a cemetery, the Angura Muhammadpur Tila Bari Qoborstan.[2][3]
