Agius

Agius is a surname of uncertain origin, common in Malta. Its origins may lie in the ancient Etyptian language, via Arabic, hagg or hajj,[1] but is thought to be a Latinisation of the Greek agios (Ancient Greek hagios), meaning "saintly" or "holy".[2] It was found in Britain after the Norman Conquest in 1066, used as a baptismal name, a variation of Agace.[3]
