The École Pour l'Informatique et les Techniques Avancées (English: EPITA School of Engineering and Computer Science), more commonly known as EPITA, is a private French grande école specialized in the field of computer science and software engineering created in 1984 by Patrice Dumoucel. It is a private engineering school, member of IONIS Education Group since 1994,[2] accredited by the Commission des titres d'ingénieur (CTI) to deliver the French Diplôme d'Ingénieur, and based at Le Kremlin-Bicêtre south of Paris.[3][4][5]

In June 2013, EPITA becomes member of the Union of Independent Grandes Écoles, which includes 30 grandes écoles.[6]

The school is part of IONIS Education Group.

Studies

French Stream

Preparatory class

The first two years of studies are preparatory years. During these two years, students study mathematics, physics and electronics as well as algorithmics and computer science.[7]

Engineering class

The first year

The third year is the first year of engineering studies, where students learn the fundamentals in information technology and software engineering. This year is also famous for its first month, during which students will be asked to make several projects, which generally lead them to code more than 15 hours per day. Third year students are known to say that "sleeping is cheating" and usually remember this year as their most painstaking year at EPITA.[citation needed]

Majors

During the fourth and fifth years students have to choose one of the nine majors:

International Stream

The Department of International Programs is currently offering 5 programs:

  1. International Bachelor of Computer ScienceThe BSc CS program gives students a solid foundation in theory and tech skills to become versatile developers. It focuses on international relevance, especially in France, with language learning. Graduates can tackle various application development challenges, handling tasks like creating interfaces and optimizing performance. The program emphasizes not just understanding but also hands-on involvement in development and implementing solutions successfully. It is composed of 6 semesters over a period of 3 years, including internship and French classes. This program is accredited by the CTI (Commission des titres d'ingénieur). Graduates of this program will have the possibility of pursuing our Master programs.
  2. Master of Science in Computer ScienceThe Master of Science in Computer Science program at EPITA provides a balanced mix of fundamental theoretical concepts in computing and their hands-on applications in today's technology and professional sectors. The goal is to furnish students with a thorough comprehension of both theoretical principles and their practical use, ensuring they are well-equipped to tackle challenges in the dynamic field of computer science. This 18-month program, divided into 4 semesters, is certified and can only be delivered by a member of the CGE (Conférence des Grandes Écoles). It features common courses for all students along with specialized semesters based on individual preferences. The 4 specializations are as follows:
    • Innovative Information Systems Management
    • Software Engineering
    • Computer Security
    • Data Science & Analytics
  3. Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence Systems The MSc in Artificial Intelligence Systems (MSc AIS) prepares experts for companies adopting new Artificial Intelligence technologies, such as Big Data analysis and Data Science. Accredited by the CGE (Conférence des Grandes École) and delivered entirely in English, the program focuses on solving intricate problems using AI methods. It provides students with a strong foundation in mathematics, alongside training in AI techniques and tools, all within a fully international environment. It also expands students’ interpersonal and commercial capacities so that they can adapt to the ever-evolving business environment.
  4. Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence for Marketing Strategy EPITA’s Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence for Marketing Strategy program is designed to empower students with AI skills for optimizing an organization's marketing strategies and decision-making processes. In collaboration with EM Normandie Business School, the 18-month program is divided into 4 semesters. This joint degree aims to equip marketing strategists with the capability to apply innovative and disruptive technologies. By doing so, organizations can enhance their ability to create, predict, and fulfill market demands effectively. The program blends the worlds of marketing strategy and artificial intelligence, providing a unique skill set for addressing contemporary challenges in the business landscape.
  5. Master of Computer Engineering Accredited by the Commission des titres d'ingénieur (CTI), the Master of Computer Engineering program provides students with a comprehensive understanding of real-world business challenges and the corresponding IT solutions. It establishes a strong technical foundation while enhancing skills in software engineering, consulting, and management. The curriculum also addresses awareness of data science and cyber security issues. This program fosters versatility, enabling graduates to work in various technical and functional areas. Graduates of this program will be awarded the “diplôme d’ingénieur” and will possess both technical and soft skills. They will have a wide choice on the job market whether they choose a career in France or abroad.
